Barcelona Chair

November 8, 2009

My reticular activator for condo furniture has been working overtime because I am currently decorating my condo in Toronto. I was recently introduced to The Barcelona Chair, a chair that was designed over 80 years ago! But get those thoughts of your grandmas floral upholstered sofa out of your head, this chair is considered to be the quintessential piece of 20th century furniture. It was designed in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exposition by German architect Ludwig Mies van der Roh. Its clean lines and simple structure have made it popular for over 80 years and it doesn’t look like it will go out of style any time soon! It just goes to show how some fashions come and go, but good design is immortal!
Here are a couple of sites that I found for additional info if a Barcelona chair is your fancy.
